Songbird's Battlefield
A cacophonous tittering fills a wildflower meadow as a flock of titmice and a flock of chickadees do battle overhead. In the grass below, ferrets and snakes feast on the fallen. The titmice have a numerical advantage, but the chickadee's leader Squillia has a ring of flame breath stuck around her neck.
Three weeks ago, one of the titmice caught sight of a pea-sized red garnet in a chickadee's nest. The stone seemed to call to the little bird, who stole it. The first attack came as a dozen chickadees arrived to smash that titmouse's nest and take the gem back. Things have only escalated from there.
The garnet is cursed so that anyone who lays eyes on it feels compelled to take it and guard it jealously. Both flocks of songbirds have built huge, fortified nests in large trees on either end of the meadow, each filled with 1000gp worth of decoy gems.
Titmouse flock
4 HD, AC as Plate (due to size and agility), Attack as none (but see note).
- Any enemies within 10' of the centre of the flock take 1d6 damage per round. At 50% HP, this is reduced to 1d3, at 25% this is reduced to 1.
Chickadee flock
2 HD, AC as Chainmail (due to size and agility), Attack as none (but see note).
- Any enemies within 10' of the centre of the flock take 1d3 damage per round. At 50% HP, this is reduced to 1.
- Can produce a 30' cone of flame breath that does 1 damage to all in its area, 3 times daily.
