Tragedy in Hollowhold
Bound Tigress
A fox-headed woman struggles to free herself from sturdy ropes that bind her upside-down from the sturdy oak branches above. She calls down curses on "that fox bitch" and begs anyone who passes to help her escape, explaining that she is not what she appears, and that she has been tricked and betrayed.
The bound woman's name is Lawrifa. She is actually a weretiger though she won't share this fact (HD 5, AC as Plate, Damage as Claws ×2. Immune to mundane damage except silver). While hunting, she came across a foxwoman named Richmae bound like she is, who convinced Lawrifa to set her free. As soon as Richmae was free, she charmed Lawrifa into taking her place and polymorphed her into her current vulpine form.
If Lawrifa is left tied up, a group of 20 vengeful human villagers led by a ranger named Kitmold the Avenger (HD 6, AC as Leather, Damage as Sword +1 or Longbow +1) arrive 3 days later. They build a bonfire and kill her slowly with silver-tipped iron pokers. They nail her burnt, mangled corpse to a tree as a warning to others of her kind.
The rope binding Lawrifa is woven with a strand of silver. It is particularly good for binding lycanthropes, and prevents them from transforming.
Invaded Tiger Lair
A large cottage, built of a wood and bone frame wrapped in deer hides. A group of 3 tall, muscular men work together to butcher a pair of recently slain caribou. Inside the cabin, a lithe, sturdy woman lounges on a giant, fur-covered bed, 2 enormous tigers curled up against her.
The woman is a foxwoman named Richmae, though she is currently impersonating a weretiger named Lawrifa (HD 7, AC as Leather Damage as Bite. Immune to mundane damage except silver. Can cast charm person once per turn, and detect evil, invisibility, locate object, clairvoyance, dispel magic, hold person, polymorph others and polymorph self each once per day). She has charmed each of Lawrifa's husbands as a precaution, though they still haven't learned her true identity. She proudly wears a necklace of rubies worth 500gp and matching earrings worth 100gp each.
Antler hooks on the wall hold a suit of blackened leather armour with iron spikes on the greaves and pauldrons, a scorched wooden shield, and an iron-headed warhammer. The armour and shield both have a +2 enchantment, and the armour is built to be easily cast off. The warhammer has 4 charges, 1 can be spent to give the hammer a +3 enchantment for a day, 2 can be spent to cast death spell.
Hamlet of Hollowhold
A small cluster of makeshift huts, barely more than a logging camp. Goats and pigs mill about the widened clearing, and 40 stout men and women work silently to strip logs and split them into boards. A patch of 20 fresh graves marked with triangles of sticks takes up the edge of the clearing, 16 of these are small.
The woodsfolk are scarred, haunted and emaciated. The men were, until recently, acting under the charms of a sorceress, bringing her one of the hamlet's children to eat each evening. When one of the women realized what was happening, she riled up the others and a bloody clash ensued, with half of the hamlet trying to slay the sorceress, and the other half protecting her. Four men and the remaining children died in the melee. The sorceress escaped in the form of a silver fox.
A week ago, the villagers gave all of their worldly wealth to a travelling ranger to track the fox sorceress and bring her to them alive so they could get proper vengeance on her.
The headwoman, Valdea, was bitten in the conflict. She will transform into a werefox on the next full moon.
