Wizard Crimes
- In the past two weeks, a dozen villagers have undergone a distressing transformation into antelopes. Sages and priests for miles around have gathered to deduce the cause, but there is no commonality between time or place of transformation, no relation between victims, and seemingly no common vector for the effect. The wizard responsible is purposefully trying to draw scholars to the vicinity so that he can kill them and become the most cited academic in the region. He is being very careful not to duplicate any details about the transformations, which could be used to narrow do own potential future targets.
- A dark forest where the trees swell and sputter like punctured lungs. It is dying from a quick-spreading fungal infection. Every 1d6 days a tree bursts into a 30' cloud of spores similar to those of yellow mould. Grey-green tentacles snake from between tree roots (as giant snake). Among the trees is a glass and metal pillar glowing with the forest's stolen life force. The wizard responsible plans to use the energy to shoot a magic laser at the moon just to see what would happen (war with the moon people).
- A long rough-hewn tunnel descends into a mountain leading to a round room with thoroughly burnt walls and floor. A circle of charred human corpses surrounds a charred and putrefying purple worm corpse. Parts have been cut away as if someone has been eating it. The soot on the walls obscures a secret door. Just beyond, the wizard responsible sits at a desk covered in indecipherable writings, gorging on the meat of the purple worm. He is convinced that eating the worm will grant him godhood, and demands to be worshiped. Is quite weak with worm poison, and in actuality has no godlike powers at all.
