Sky Torch

Single otherwise-normal torch that casts a 240' radius of bright sunlight. Anyone within 10' of it has a -1 to attack, with underworld dwellers suffering an additional -1 while inside its radius. The torch deals 2d6 damage when used as a weapon.

Canary Puppet

A tiny wooden bird with a pin in its back. Pulling the pin out activates it for 1 hour, it becomes lively, singing a cheerful birdsong and looking about curiously. If there is an enemy, trap or other hazard within 100', the canary goes quiet. After an hour, the wooden bird becomes mundane.

Incendiary Poster

A rolled up scroll. The first time an sapient creature looks at it, they must save vs spells. If they fail, the scroll turns blank and its victim is possessed with a wild rage, forcing them to attack the nearest target with abandon. Each round of combat they can remake the save. Targets injured by the initial victim suffer the same effect as if they had read the poster.

Millionaire Tortoise

An otherwise normal tortoise who likes to eat coins. For every 25cp it eats, it will spit out 1d3sp. For every 35sp it eats, it will spit out 1d6gp. For every 70gp it eats, it will spit out 2d6pp and for every 250pp it eats, there is a 3-in-6 chance of it spitting out a large black pearl worth 50000sp. The turtle can eat 1000 coins in an hour, and after eating 5000 coins, it must sleep for 1d6 weeks. If the tortoise is killed and cut open, its stomach is full of worthless rusty iron coins, though its meat is quite delicious and enough to make about 3 week's rations.

Undying Branch

A stick from a blossoming apple tree with 6 blooms that never age. Eating one prepares a random first-level clerical spell in the eater's mind. When the spell is cast, there is a 2-in-6 chance that instead the spell Summon Sapling, sprouting a 3-month old apple tree at the target location.

Devil's Keystone

A trapezoidal block of shale inscribed on one side with a demonic face and on the other with the name and sigil of a lesser demon. If the demon's mouth is fed a drop of living blood, the sacrifice loses 1d6hp as an imp crawls out of their mouth (HD3, AC as Leather, Attack as Claws. Flying. Immune to mundane weapons and fire). The imp proceeds to build a squat, two-story tower with comfortable sleeping space for 20, or uncomfortable sleeping space for 60. The imp will maintain the house and always keep a pot of hearty goat stew on the hearth. In exchange it merely asks its masters to complete simple tasks every 1d6 weeks, trifles really, nothing nefarious. If a task goes undone for a week, the imp tears the tower down and retreats to its realm.

Imp Tasks

  1. Water a wheat field with a pint of goats' blood. In a month the whole community falls to the plague.
  2. Leave a scrap of paper in a lawful temple. Do not read it. Over the next 3 weeks the congregation stops tending the temple and the priest moves on to another village.
  3. Pull a murderer down from the gallows and give them a lawful funeral. In 3 days they rise, rejected from the soil and go back to their murdering ways, this time as a ghoul.
  4. Drop one of the imp's teeth down a well. Over the next week, 1d6 more imps crawl out of the well and take residence in your tower. Henceforth they routinely cause mischief in the surrounding area.
  5. Bring a black billy goat to the centre of a dark marsh. Follow behind him as he wanders his way out, clearing a passable trail in his wake until it intersects with a road. Every new moon, from now on, travellers go missing from this stretch of road. An elder demon waits at the crossroad, playing weighted dice for the souls of those who pass.
  6. Fetch a few more goats would you? I’m terribly busy this week and I can’t make it to the market.
